First Aid at Work 3 Day Course
ABOUT THIS COURSE
The course is delivered in accordance with the current Health & safety Executive syllabus (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice L74 for qualifying First Aid personnel in the workplace. Candidates will receive training in a wide range of first aid skills including:
COURSE CONTENT
The Basic Life Support programme content includes:
- Importance of self-protection and use of barriers
- Chain of Survival
- Primary Survey
- Unconscious Casualties and Recovery Position
- Adult CPR
- Information on AED’s
- Using the AED
- Dealing with Choking
ASSESSMENT
This course has an ongoing assessment by the Instructor and a formal assessment process which includes a written assessment of first aid knowledge as well as practical assessment of the learner’s ability to perform safely and effectively carrying out a range of first aid in a number of situations
CERTIFICATION
On successful completion of this course the First Aider will be issued with an Electronic Certificate (Card available for an extra cost) valid for 3 years from the date of completion. HSE recommends yearly refresher training
First Aid at Work Refresher 2 Day Course
ABOUT THIS COURSE
A two day re-qualification of the First Aid at Work course. This is done to ensure First Aiders are current and up to date on their skills and abilities to administer First Aid if needed. The course is delivered in accordance with the current Health & safety Executive syllabus (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice L74 for qualifying First Aid personnel in the workplace. Candidates will receive refresher training in a wide range of first aid skills including
COURSE CONTENT
- The ability to act safely and effectively when an accident or emergency occurs.
- The treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious patient.
- The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- The ability to safely and promptly treat a patient who is bleeding.
- The ability to recognise and treat a patient in shock.
- The keeping of simple records following an accident at work.
STUDENTS WILL ALSO LEARN TO PROVIDE CARE FOR PATIENTS WHO HAVE
- Suffered a burn or scald
- Injured bones, muscles or joints
- Been poisoned by ingestion or inhalation of a substance or gas
- Suffered an injury to the eye
- Signs & symptoms of a major illness e.g. heart attack, anaphylaxis, stroke etc

ASSESSMENT
This course has an ongoing assessment by the Instructor and a formal assessment process which includes a written assessment of first aid knowledge as well as practical assessment of the learner’s ability to perform safely and effectively carrying out a range of first aid in a number of situations

Emergency First Aid at Work 1 day Course
ABOUT THIS COURSE
The Emergency First Aid at Work programme meets the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive for first aiders working in low risk environments (eg offices, shops and residential care settings).
The qualification will equip the first aider with skills to be able to confidently undertake emergency first aid if someone becomes ill or injured at work and consists of 6 hours of instructor led tuition with the emphasis on practical application of first aid skills.
COURSE CONTENT
The content covers the basic essentials required to provide emergency care to a patient. Candidates will receive training in a range of first aid skills including:
- The ability to act safely and effectively when an accident or emergency occurs.
- The treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious patient.
- The recognition and treatment of a person in seizure.
- The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- The ability to recognise and safely treat a patient who is choking.
- The ability to safely and promptly treat a patient who is bleeding.
- The keeping of simple records following an accident at work.
ASSESSMENT

Blended, Paediatric and Early Years First Aid
ABOUT THIS COURSE
Flexible delivery options offer you the choice of teaching 12 hours in the classroom or opting for our blended learning option with 6 hours online and just 6 in the classroom.
The Paediatric and Early Years course is designed to meet the requirements of OFSTED for Early Years First Aid Provision. Additionally, the programme meets the recommendations of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 issued by the Health & Safety Executive for the ‘Appointed Person’.
COURSE CONTENT
Paediatric and Early Years First Aid includes resuscitation skills for adults, infants and children. Candidates will receive training in a range of first aid skills including:
- The ability to act safely and effectively when an accident or emergency occurs.
- The treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious patient.
- The recognition of cardiac arrest and delivery of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- The ability to safely and promptly treat a patient who is bleeding.
- Recognition of common childhood complaints and illnesses and appropriate care.
- Developing an effective emergency plan for when emergencies occur.
- The keeping of simple records following an accident in the workplace/care setting.
This course meets the requirements of OFSTED under DfES guidance (April 2017) complying with the framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Basic Life Support with AED
ABOUT THIS COURSE
A 4 hour training programme designed to give candidates a basic knowledge of emergency resuscitation skills and instruction on how to use a portable Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively. AED’s in the workplace fall under PUWER 1998 Regulations and this course will comply with the requirements of this legislation
The Basic Life Support is a short and concise training programme that focuses on initial, time critical care for life threatening situations, including dealing with someone who has stopped breathing, is choking or has become unconscious.
The Basic Life Support training meets the minimum training recommendations of an ‘Appointed Person’ in the workplace as detailed in the HSE Approved Code of Practice L74.

Emergency First Aid at Work with Paediatric BLS (First Aid for Schools)
ABOUT THIS COURSE
Emergency First Aid at Work with Paediatric BLS (First Aid for Schools) is a 1 day first aid training programme of minimum 7 contact hours designed to provide candidates with the HSE approved Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification with additional the addition of infant and child resuscitation skills.
The syllabus follows guidance issued by the HSE for persons providing first aid in low risk environments or where the likelihood of accidents is low and emergency services are readily available. It is delivered in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice L74. Emergency First Aid at Work with Paediatric BLS covers the basic essentials required to provide emergency care to a patient. Candidates will receive training in a range of first aid skills including:
